PUBLIC SERVICES WORKERS\u2019 UNION OF TUC (GHANA) HOLDS ITS 3RD NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE AT ADIEMBRA, KUMASI<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The PSWU of TUC (Ghana) has organized its 3rd National Youth Conference in Kumasi. The Youth Conference which was held on 5th December, 2023 on the theme \u201cThe Role of the Youth in Strengthening Public Sector Institutions for Accelerated Economic Development in Ghana\u201d brought Thirty (30) Regional Youth Officers as delegates to elect new National Youth Officers for the next four (4) years, Youth Desk Officers from the Affiliates of the TUC (Ghana), International Partners of the PSWU and other Distinguished Personalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his Address, the General Secretary of the PSWU Brother Bernard Adjei briefly touched on the theme and called on the Youth to be useful and productive as well as build a culture of transparency, accountability and integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He called on the Youth to be proactive and participate in decision making. Brother Bernard Adjei advised the Youth to understand the doctrine and philosophy of the Union to bring the benefits to members as well as use the knowledge and energy they have to build the Union\u2019s Collective Power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his part, the National Chairperson of PSWU Brother Ken Tweneboah Koduah stated the strong assets of the Youth and their ability to contextualize issues in shaping policies towards the socioeconomic development of the country. He expressed his optimism in the Youth of PSWU and further charged them to play their respective roles in achieving the theme of the Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Youth Conference was graced by Comrade Florence Mucha Taruvinga, President of Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) who served as the Guest Speaker. In her address, Comrade Florence mentioned the huge role of the Youth in contributing to the accelerated economic development of Ghana. She further highlighted that Young Workers remain the positive vanguards of Trade Unions. Comrade Florence called on the Youth to be respectful and never forget the experiences of Senior Comrades.
There were other solidarity messages from TUC (Ghana) Affiliates present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elections were later conducted and Sister Emelia Mills was elected as the National Youth Committee Chairperson, Brother Selorm Kwadzo Aklasu-Aho as National Youth Committee Vice Chairperson and Sister Nyameyie Essuman-Mensah as the National Youth Committee Secretary.
In her Acceptance Speech, Sister Emelia Mills expressed her delight for been elected as the first female Chairperson of the PSWU National Youth Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She on behalf of the other elected Officers thanked the delegates and PSWU leadership and further pledged to work relentlessly in promoting the full development of the potential of the Youth in the Union and in their respective organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
